How To Navigate Difficult Times

Indeed, there is a time for everything under the sun. A time of ease and also a time of difficulty. Something about human nature detest difficulty and have a hard time accepting and navigating through it. Difficulty provide us with the opportunity to know ourselves thoroughly and have a good yardstick of our character. When things are going well a lot of us develop a smug attitude and our character begins to weaken.

During difficult times people behave strangely and get themselves into trouble they never imagined. Things will not always go as planned, there are numerous factors that affect and change human circumstance from better to worse. When the winds of fortune begins to blow south that is when we need to show or develop character. Human life is more than the comfort and ease we spend most of our waking hours working for.

Someone once said: I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. How many of us can say the same about ourselves when we cannot endure a little difficulty without complaining and telling our woes to everyone we come across. A little difficulty frustrates us, we lose our composure and begin to take desperate measures.

Difficulty is not surmounted by anyone other than yourself and it begins from the way you view it. If you view difficulty as an opportunity to grow, to settle and search yourself, to start over, to improve on your mindset, then it becomes something favorable and will reflect in the outcome. Very few persons go through difficulties without carrying it on their sleeves; they don’t complain to anyone, they don’t grumble and they don’t feel entitled. Such an attitude sail them through any storm without any damage to their character and person.

Someday, we all have to learn how to find equanimity in the circumstances that beset us because life is a journey with difficulty and ease, pleasure and pain, honor and insult. When you go back to human history you find out it was replete with peaceful and trying times. Wars, natural disaster, economic crisis, pandemic plundered down nations and individuals into uncertainty. Do not be too certain about any human situation as history teaches us; the only thing you can be certain about is your character and how well you handle events.
